West Valley Humane Society does not trade, sell or transfer its data in any form. Information contained on donor, mailing, and record-keeping lists are confidential information and only used by our nonprofit for charitable purposes with the exception of trusted third parties who assist with shelter services like: our pet tracking database, lost pet finding service, etc. We may also share your information when we believe release is necessary to comply with law enforcement, animal welfare, to protect our rights or other rights to property or safety.
Release of Information
West Valley Humane Society may publish donor names in print, in newsletters, online, or through social media. This shared information may include the total gift amount from the donor in our annual reporting. Donors may opt out of listing this information by informing the Development Coordinator of their wishes. All requests by donors on privacy concerns can be sent to Development@Westvalleyhumanesociety.org. West Valley Humane Society may be legally required to disclose information on occasion and complies with all legal requirements.
What information do we collect?
West Valley Humane Society collects information when you fill out a form, subscribe to our newsletter, or make a donation. When completing any of these forms you may be asked for your identifying information such as: name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, or financial information if it is a donation. When just viewing the website, looking at resources, or viewing adoptable pets we will not collect information.
How do we use your information?
The information we collect from you may be used in the following ways:
- To take donations
- To send newsletters (once opt-ed in)
- To send periodic emails
- To track adoptions, owner surrenders, and stray drop-offs
- To coordinate volunteers and foster parents
- To send semi-annual paper mailings
- To process financial transactions for adoptions, donations, and medical services

West Valley Humane Society respects the privacy of all donors. We do not rent, sell, trade, give away or transfer donor lists or any private information from donors to other parties. Information provided during donation processes will only be used by West Valley Humane Society to keep track of data reporting and inform you of shelter practices, programs, events, and fundraisers. All e-mail communication can be unsubscribed from at the bottom of the e-mail.
If you choose to leave a comment on our website we do collect the data shown in the comments form. This includes the visitor’s IP address and browser agent string which helps to prevent spam.
