At West Valley Humane Society we know that sometimes the unexpected happens which can leave both people and their animals in tough spots. As an animal shelter serving Canyon County, Idaho we aim to provide humane care for homeless animals regardless of how they come to us.

Animals that are surrendered to the shelter by an owner are evaluated both medically and behaviorally for adoption eligibility. At minimum, all animals that leave our care must be spayed/neutered and vaccinated. Because of this- we do charge owner surrender fees to help pay for some of the cost needed to care for every pet.

Owner surrenders will be accepted on a case by case basis. We are happy to problem solve issues with you and help find ways for your pet to stay in your home if you are in need of additional support. We will evaluate our ability to take in owner surrenders week to week while we navigate space and funding shortages.
