7-13 Junior Jolunteer Program! We have BIG news for the little people in your life! We are adding a junior volunteer program for kids ages 7- 13! Starting in December, our regular junior volunteer program will include 7-13 year old children! Junior volunteers will be able to help in a variety of ways including cat care, dog brushing and bathing, playing with dogs, and animal enrichment projects depending on their skills and capabilities! Junior volunteers will need to sign-up for a time slot to ensure that our volunteer coordinator can be around to help answer any questions or needs of our junior volunteers! This sign-up will be available on a weekly basis to help us plan! All junior volunteers will need to be with their parent at all times, and the parent will need to be the one to take the dog outside. Once they are outside or in a meet-and- greet room, junior volunteers will be able to interact with the dog or cat and learn what it takes to take care of the animals here at the shelter! Junior volunteers, as well as their parent, should come to one of our orientations, and then will be scheduled to go through dog training. Dog training helps the parent understand our specific protocols for getting dogs in and out of kennels, as well as teaches children how to keep our dogs healthy and happy. December orientation dates are as follows: December 7th & 14th at 5:30 pm and Saturday, December 9th at 11:30 am! If you have any questions, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Angela, at volunteer@westvalleyhumanesociety.org or 208-455- 5928
In addition to our junior volunteer program, announced earlier this month we will host a junior volunteer event for ages 3 years and up! On December 18th from 4 pm - 7 pm we will be making Christmas dinner for each of the dogs and cats! We will fill bowls with high-value treats, dog food (both wet and dry), and peanut butter as well as a toy for each dog! There is no cost, but if you would like ....SEE MORE at Upcoming Events!
